![]() Echoboy is still one of the best delay plugins over 10 years after its release, which says a lot. iZotope has also been a pioneer in using machine learning and analysis to suggest mix tweaks and processing. IZotope is more like Fabfilter in that there are a small batch of plugins that are very flexible for accomplishing a specific task. Slate is similar to Waves albeit with a smaller selection of plugins and more emphasis on emulating analog color and gear. It also means that waves has a lot of plugins that do the same basic task (compression, EQ) in slightly different ways. Waves, conversely, has a whole sea of plugins that also do the basic mixing duties but with some based on very specific pieces of analog gear (The Abbey Road Series) and others being more general like the Rennaissance and H Series. I'm going to go out on a limb and say they are the best bang for your buck if you're not concerned with analog emulation. Pro Q2 and Pro C2 are my Swiss army knives. I.e., there's only one compression plug-in, but it has multiple algorithms for any type of compression you would want. ![]() Fabfilter is an extremely versatile set of plug-ins with one plug-in for each specific purpose. ![]()
